State of Open Report features Open Chain

OpenUK <amanda.brock@...>

All

Announcing our "State of Open : The UK in 2022” Report Phase One #StateofOpen, The Open Source Journey ” following maturity in the UK is now live at

image0.jpeg

Please share on social #StateofOpen

We welcome any input and feedback from you all. You will see that again we have pushed the boundaries with our questions and calculations. Much of our work is groundbreaking/ being done for the first time and will only improve as we do more of this year on year.

It was with a heavy heart that I made the difficult decision to cancel our launch event due to take place in Cardiff today due to COVID. The levels in the UK made it, in our minds, untenable to have our community meet together in large numbers indoors at present.

Instead, we would like to invite you all to join us at a digital event on 20 July from 4.30-6.30pm BST. This will be a digital drinks with Fireside Chat, Q&A and a quiz during which we will discuss the report findings and content.

All are welcome, sign up here (drinks can only be sent to the UK) https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/379579762287

image0.jpeg

We will release two more phases of State of Open this year:

- Phase two on Infastructure, Curation and Security in September along side our Infrastructure, Curation and Security Conference in London on 20 September

- Phase three on Sustainability including our Societal Value Metrics and EV Charging Blueprint using Open Technology. Release will be alongside our second Open Technology for Sustainability Day, Dynamic Earth Edinburgh on 16 November

We will also be hosting a conference on these topics in London in February/ March 2023. Date and further info tbc by end of July.

image0.png

Our bi-monthly calls for those interested in reporting and research in global open technology continue with our next session on Friday 22 July.

Please contact admin@... if you would like to join the list for this. We will also present our State of Open findings at this and are interested to hear from any other research projects with status updates, ideas or outputs.

Cheers

Hi everyone,

At TODO we are launching the 5th OSPO Survey to study the status of open source programs or similar open source initiatives among different organizations (including enterprises, governments, academics) across the globe.

In order to ensure a large and diverse sample size to provide quality insights for the OSPO community, we would really appreciate it if you could save some minutes to take this survey and share it with your open source contacts to reach out to as many people as possible ➡️ https://www.research.net/r/RFR6ZPG

Thank you so much!

OpenChain Security Draft Spec - Security Best Practice Modeling

Asking for feedback on a recent note. Does your organization have a similar approach?

For the Vulnerabilities reporting some organizations have an established Security defects data visibility policy in conjunction with an automated internal alert system. These incorporate e2e processes to seek vulnerabilities information from both external sources (such as NVD - https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln) as well as internal vulnerabilities detection / analysis mechanisms. These are then fed back to the Product Development process via a continuous feedback loop that can serve as a sample model.

OpenChain has various regular or semi-regular meetings throughout each month:

Our webinars
Our tooling work group
Our telco work group

Until recently we also had a bi-weekly global call, but consensus was to shift this fully into our mini-summit format. Attendance was higher and the monthly or six weekly cadence suites calendars.

However, it appears that we have some issues with calendar invites becoming orphaned on individual calendars. For example, when the Global Calendar is updated, those updates do not necessarily reflect in people’s clients.

Specifically, our announced move from bi-weekly global call to mini-summits was communicated on May 23rd and on that date the calendar invite was removed from the Global Calendar. However, six people have an active invite in their individual clients this week.

I want to solicit your feedback on the best way forward.

Ask everyone to delete all invites and resend (what we did in December to reboot)?
