My name is Juliane Wissel and I am currently doing my Ph.D. at the Technical University of Munich (Germany). I am inviting you to take part in a scientific study on the role of
OSS compliance in the software supply chain.
What is the study about?
I investigate the role of OSS compliance for companies in the software supply chain. More concretely, the context of the study is the procurement of software that contains OSS components and that is used in companies or implemented into own products/services.
It is directed at decision makers who select software suppliers. I take into account the perspectives of experts from different areas (e.g., software procurement, product development, legal, sales, etc.).
Why should you take part?
For every completed questionnaire, five euros will be donated to UNICEF or WWF, according to your choice. Furthermore, I can share the study results with you to give you interesting insights into the role of OSS compliance for companies.
The study is designed to take about 15 minutes. All gathered information is highly confidential and anonymized and is only used for scientific purposes. Please use the following link to start the study:
https://OSSComplianceTUM.sawtoothsoftware.com/login.html
If you know further experts in the areas of OSS compliance or software procurement, please also share this call for participation. I would like to thank you for supporting my research. If you have any questions, please
feel free to contact me.
Kind regards,
Juliane Wissel

Our industry survey has had some great replies. However, we would like to get some more before closing the survey at the end of May.
Our goal is to have a better understanding of global corporate engagement and management of open source. We are considering this from a “strategy” perspective rather than a “development” perspective. Our goal is to help inform project, product and supply chain decisions in the year ahead.
Please take a moment to fill out the survey and please take another to share it. This will be the first time we have had this type of global insight in open source via a project, and it will be influential in all our planning throughout 2022 and beyond.
A little late (apologies) we are releasing Webinar #41. This is more than a recording. Ana over at TODO Group is building an OSPO MindMap and is actively seeking collaborators. It sounds like a job for the OpenChain community! https://www.openchainproject.org/featured/2022/05/15/webinar-41

Welcome! The OpenChain Industry Survey 2022 covers a big topic: the global status of corporate engagement and management of open source. Please help us out by completing the survey from your perspective before May 1st. https://forms.gle/9Jf9h1J6AwzFpMz89
We are considering open source from a “strategy” perspective rather than a “development” perspective. Our goal is to help inform project, product and supply chain decisions in the year ahead. This goes far beyond compliance, OSPO and any other single topic.
