WG Meeting next week

Martin Yagi

Dear all,

Its now just a week away to our meeting (looking forward to it!).

I’ve added some material into the “bitesized training” subgroup files area (uk-wg-sg-bitesize-training@... | Files)….which I’ll try to add to a bit more this week. I’ll go through them at the meeting and explain further my thinking/intent etc but I encourage you to look beforehand so we can discuss effectively and start to formulate a way forward.

I think the activity could also have commonality (if we wish) to the Compliance Case Study sub-group…..i.e. create byte sized training materials as part of the study output. I’ll leave you all to think about this over the next week.

How do we decide something is ready for ‘release’ and what would that mean?

Licensing?

What are people’s priorities? What are they willing and able to contribute to?

I’m not sure what the exciting sounding “content recording” agenda item is, but I’ve included my openchain (UK) testimonial blurb/script in the files area in case it is useful 😉

Best regards,

Martin.

This sounds great Martin!

We have a couple of options on the content recording – we can provide some professional equipment and film training material ourselves, or if we use the event space to present a talk as if it were part of the day’s events, our AV team should be able to take a recording of it. I’m thinking the latter will be easier, so long as we’re happy with the learning content looking like an event talk.

Hi Tom,

I don’t want to be the “face” of the training (in general[*])….if anyone else wants to, that’s great as far as I’m concerned. 😉

I’m guessing we wont have much content ready to film by next week($), so maybe if we all come ready to do some intro/testimonial blurb, that would be achievable and good use of the available time/resources?

Any tips n tricks for a less professional setup would be great. FYI I have here at my disposal a backdrop (with green and white canvases), a couple of diffused light sources, a Sony camcorder and a Rode wireless GO mike (which I plug straight into the camcorder).

Really excited by the idea!

Best regards,

Martin.

[*] ideally the presenter would be more diverse than an old white male like me, unless GaryL is available. Amanda Brock, for example, could be someone to approach?

($) also the LFC 193 training course I was initially looking at is in the process of being revised by the Education WG.

OK! Sounds like recording some testimonials would be good, and I guess that would be strange in a presentation setup? So I’ll get the camera, tripod, backdrop etc. hired.

Hi Tom,

That sounds great if the other attendees agree – really appreciate it.

Perhaps a minute or two of the meeting discussions would be good to have too for editing in purposes for anyone….but I think we could do that anytime/anywhere (ie a subsequent meeting, maybe at First Light) with a regular camcorder as  I would not expect to need the audio.

I wish I had some talent, and more time for this kind of thing! 😉

Best regards,

Martin

I honestly have no opinions either way on what to do here. I hate being in front of a camera, and have neither suggestions nor content to provide.
